AIA-CES Program Information - Architectural Daylighting
We’re dedicated to showcasing the health benefits, energy savings and sustainability of daylighting and natural ventilation systems, and are supporting this message by offering a wide range of AIA Continuing Education System learning opportunities. The programs listed below cover topics ranging from polycarbonate multi-wall and translucent FRP panel systems to designing with daylight and more. For additional information on any of these programs, contact us at [email protected].
Daylighting Benefits Focus (Polycarbonate/ Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP) / Tubular Daylighting Devices / Metal Framed Skylights)- KLA AD 2301 – Innovative Applications of Daylighting (1 LU / HSW) When designed properly, natural light can transform a space through the quality of light, related benefits to building occupants, and energy savings. But choosing the right system and options can also have a monumental impact on the aesthetics of a space. In this course we’ll examine common glazing options and daylighting system configurations, custom options that can make a system stand out, and numerous examples of projects that utilize daylighting systems to their fullest.
Daylighting Benefits Focus (Polycarbonate & FRP)
- KLA AD 2320 – Profitability of Healthy Spaces (1 LU / HSW)
*This program also qualifies for GBCI credit – course ID # 0920023066 Natural light and air in the built environment are vitally important to the well- being of the occupants and their productivity, and to the profitability of businesses and building owners. But not all daylighting designs are created equal. The designer must understand not only the importance of natural light in the workplace, schools, and retail environments, but also how to bring it about for optimal function, performance, and durability.
Polycarbonate Focus
- KLAAD202300 – High Performance Translucent Building Envelopes (1 LU / HSW) This course focuses on the key characteristics of both successful and unsuccessful daylighting strategies and what defines a high-performance polycarbonate multi-wall daylighting system. In addition, the course will review different translucent technologies including removable options and quad-glazed systems, and also gain insight on testing and standards.
Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Focus
- KLA-MI-202101 – Enhancing Spaces with Translucent FRP Panel Daylighting Systems (1 LU / HSW) In this course we’ll look at translucent fiberglass reinforced polymer (FRP) panel skylights and wall systems – their general construction, design, and benefits when used in a variety of building types. We’ll review their unique properties, evauluate different daylighting methods, view project examples, and examine the benefits of daylighting to health, happiness and productivity.
- KLA-MI-202102 – Designing with Specialty and High Performance Translucent FRP Panel Daylighting Systems (1 LU / HSW) Specialty and high-performance translucent FRP panel systems are incredibly versa- tile. From pressure-relief and blast protection needs to high wind and hurricane rated systems, we will examine their construction, application and benefits, as well as how specialty systems can benefit a wide variety of project types.
